The serum bank, an essential tool to tackle COVID-19

To fight COVID-19 epidemic, LFB supports the creation of a serum bank by the Army Blood Transfusion Centre (CTSA). The purpose of the serum bank is to store and preserve samples from healthy blood donors and also from donors who were tested positive to COVID-19, to study in particular the circulation of the virus.

This serum bank will also enable the CTSA, the “Institut de Recherche Biomédicale des Armées“ and the “Hôpitaux d’Instruction des Armées” (Army Teaching Hospitals) to carry out haemovigilance surveys and study the prevalence of anti-SARS-CoV2 antibodies.
